June 2026 Price Increases on our Whey Protein Products
On June 24th 2026, prices will increase on three popular products, our Whey Protein Isolate, Protein Water and our Signature Protein.
Over the past few years, there have been significant price increases in the raw material cost of protein. While this has impacted many milk based proteins, both whey protein isolate and whey protein concentrate have increased in price by more than four times in the past few years.
This upward trend has continued throughout 2026. We are now in the position that as a small business, we need to increase the prices of our whey based protein products.
I completely understand that price increases are never welcome news. We receive so much support from all of our customers and the last thing we want to do is put our prices up. But as a small business, this is a decision that we have had to make in order to remain in business.
As the founder and owner of Amino Z, I feel that it is paramount to remain honest and transparent around our pricing. So I’ll provide some background around what’s been going on and what changes will be made below.
Why do whey protein prices continue to increase in 2026?
There are many factors impacting whey protein prices. Fundamentally, it is a result of a supply constraint combined with an increased demand for whey protein.
If we go back roughly a decade, whey protein was abundant. It was an ingredient that was produced as a result of the whey by-product of cheesemaking. The amount of cheese made resulted in a significant volume of whey protein availability.
However, times have changed. Whey protein is recognised as a superior protein source. Globally, we have embraced protein as a beneficial macronutrient which is evidenced simply by walking down the supermarket aisle and seeing protein "everything".
Whey protein is no longer perceived as just being for the bodybuilder (as it was ten years ago). It has an abundance of applications, from supporting general health and wellness, to being used as an ingredient to increase protein in drinks and foods.
With the surge of demand for whey protein across the globe, supply has not kept up. It can take several years and millions of dollars to set up a new manufacturing plant to produce more whey protein powder. Despite some new factories coming online overseas, demand has not slowed down.
I must stress that this is a global issue and it is not confined to Australia. Australia produces a very small amount of whey protein, with the primary global sources coming from Europe, New Zealand and USA.
Many other businesses have already announced (or implemented), significant price increases this year 2026 for these reasons. I expect more changes to be announced in the coming months.
What will our new pricing be?
Our Signature Protein 1kg price will increase by $5 from $69.99 to $74.99. Our Whey Protein Isolate and Protein Water 1kg prices will increase by $10, from $84.99 to $94.99.
Importantly, no other products will be affected.
Any discounts (such as loyalty or 10% Subscribe & Save discounts) will be applied on top of these prices. You will continue to earn Z Points at the same rate to use as a further discount. Free shipping will remain for orders $149 or more.
We will also continue to offer bulk purchase discounts when you order more than 1 unit of each product.
These changes will come into effect from June 24th 2026. Our prices will remain unchanged until then.
As we head toward 2027
I completely understand that this news may be disappointing. We have certainly not made this decision lightly and this has been scrutinised extensively by me and our team to arrive at what we feel represents fair value.
As a small business, we are in the position where we must increase our prices to not only remain in business, but also to uphold our quality standards and continue developing new and novel flavours and products.
At this point in time, I do not believe that there are any clear indications that whey protein pricing will come back down. After many conversations with manufacturers, the consensus does seem to be that this may be a permanent shift in pricing, at least for the foreseeable future. This is something I wish to be fully transparent about so as to not set false expectations that this is a temporary price change.
As a company, we are investing heavily into new flavour and product innovations, with many more new releases already lined up for the second half of 2026.
And importantly, we will continue to fully back our products with our 110% Guarantee. This way, if you’re unhappy with our product, we take responsibility for not meeting your expectations. That onus should be on us, and not on you as our customer.
As the owner, I cannot tell you how grateful the entire team and I are for the amazing support we continue to receive from you. Thanks so much for your understanding.
Should you have any questions, feedback or complaints, please do not hesitate to reply to this email. We totally understand that this may be disappointing news and will be more than happy to assist and address your concerns.
Kind regards,
Jay Bonaretti
