I lack motivation and find it hard to go into the gym. Can you help?

Many people lack motivation when it comes to getting into the gym on a regular basis.

First of all, have some structure to your workouts.  It's a great idea to have a personal trainer write up a plan for you so you know exactly what needs to be done on what day.  Once you have a plan in place, it's just a matter of following it.  Eventually you will fall into a routine and it will become second nature.

One hurdle you will need to push past is giving yourself the option of going into the gym or not - this is where a plan comes into play.  If it's there in black and white, you don't have a choice...you just need to do it - it doesn't matter how tired you think you feel

What's more important?  Watching some TV or working toward your own dreams?  Hey - we only get one chance at life, and life's winners do not make excuses.  You and only you have the power to make the desired changes within your life.  Here's another quote:

Another way to motivate yourself may be to get a training partner.  It can be hard to find someone, but if you can find someone else as determined as you, then you tend to feed off each other for motivation.  The gym then becomes a lot more enjoyable.  Personally I love the competitive aspect of a training partner - trying to out-do each other every time really pushes both of us to our limits.

Record some results in the gym.  Take in a pen and paper and write down your personal bests.  Then each time stive for a little bit more.  Particularly if you have a competitive nature, continually out-doing yourself will become a little bit addictive.
