As with most things, your body will adapt to gradual changes. If you were to throw in an additional 1000 calories, this is going to be a HUGE shock to the system - just like if you were to double the amount of water you consume overnight.
Gradually add further food into your diet so your system can adjust to the increased caloric intake at around 200-500 calories per week - depending upon what you feel comfortable with. You will find that you won't be bloated quite as much, nor will you struggle with your eating. Also by slowly adding your calories back in, this will also assist you in identifying your optimal daily requirements.
