Hi Jay,Im 87kg,164cm tall and 28 years old. Ive lost 16kg since 30th Nov last year. Im on the Tony Ferguson program and go to Curves gym 3 times a week. Im finding that im not really getting much from Curves. Im getting bored with it and i feel like its not really increasing my fitness level. I have noticed a big improvement from when I started last year though. My weight loss is slowing down. I know I need to exercise more but not really sure what to do. Ive got a cross trainer at home but find that boring. I also have one of those big exercise balls. I would really like to run but im not sure how I go about it. I cant make it to the end of the street without getting really puffed. Could you please let me know what type of exercise I should do to lose weight and also how do I start running? I am healthy and have nothing physically stopping me from exercising. Motivation to start is probably the only thing holding me back. Thank you,Tanya

Hi Tanya!

First, congratulaitons on losing 16kg! That's fantastic!

The trouble with places like Curves is that it does not allow you to improve beyond the initial plateau; know that it is not just you, but many others who have experienced the very same effect!

The body responds to demands- if you exercise in the same way for months on end, your body adapts to those demands within weeks or months (as it did when you initially saw results) and then stops improving once the activity is no longer a challenge. The key here is change- that'll keep it interesting, far from boring and a challenge! You'll need a more diverse exercise program to continue to see results.

On running; there are ways to gradually introduce running into your routine 2 -3 days per week. Start off with small goals, and alternate between running and walking, even if it is just to the end of your block. You can jog and/ or walk at a comfortable pace and progress from there.

I hope this helps! If you've got more questions, don't hesitate to contact me, or the personal training team!

Best,

Fereshteh
