Cinnamon-Apple Oatmeal is a healthy, low calorie and high fibre recipe that's perfect to include in your weight reduction mealplan.  The goodness of oats are combined with the freshness of apples and blended with the spicy, bitter and sweet taste of cinnamon.  Apples are a good source of fibre and vitamin C.  Meanwhile, oats are an excellent source of manganese and a very good source of selenium. In addition, oats are a good source of vitamin B1, dietary fibre, magnesium, protein and phosphorus.

  Water

  Apple Juice, unsweetened

  Currants
0.25 teaspoon (0 g)
  Cinnamon, ground
0.38 cup (36 g)
  Oat, rolled, uncooked
1.25 tablespoon (10 g)
  Milk, nonfat, powder
40 g
  Apples, red, medium, chopped
2 g
  Splenda, brown sugar blend
 

METHOD

  1. Combine first 4 ingredients in a saucepan; bring to a boil.
  2. Add oats and milk powder; cook over medium heat 8 minutes stirring occasionally.
  3. Remove from heat; add apple and brown sugar.
  4. Cover, let stand 5 minutes.
