My experience over the last 12 weeks has been really important to me for many reasons, but most importantly, I learnt to love my body again. Not because I now look perfect but because I finally learnt to work with my body to achieve healthy results.
For such a long time, I tried and tried but nothing worked. The kilo’s I gained stayed put while the kilo’s lost came back so easily. It felt like my body did the exact opposite of what I wanted it to. I actually used to put off working out because I didn’t want to be disappointed by trying hard but not seeing results.
I’m excited to say that it doesn’t feel like that anymore. It’s so easy to obsess about the perfect body and feel hopeless because you think you’ll never achieve it, but training with Jay has shown me that the perfect shape for my body is unique to me and I’ve come such a long way in just 3 months! Considering I’ve tried slimming down for as long as I remember, 3 months is nothing… I don’t freak out about the thought of gaining a kilo because it’s actually not that hard to loose it; now that I know how to. Because of this, I can relax and stop trying so hard. I keep an eye on my eating and exercise habits and get back on track if ever I start slipping. Yalda initially emailed us at the beginning of the year, determined to reduce her bodyfat, improve the shape around the glutes and to strengthen her very weak and injury proned shoulders.
Yalda did have some exercise experience in a gym environment, however she was unable to develop a programme herself that delivered the results that she was after. On top of that, she was quite intimidated by various "pushing" exercises, due to her weak (and sometimes painful) shoulder.
So I developed a very specific programme for her to follow which took all of this into account. In very little time, Yalda reported to me that her shoulder strength was improving phenomenally. In addition to this, her measurements very quickly told the story that she was significantly reducing the amount of body fat that she was carrying.
Yalda's training was quite inspirational to me because she didn't just have a goal of "getting into shape". Her aspirations had far more substance, because she wanted to be happy with "who she was", not just "what she looked like". As Yalda underwent some intensive online personal training with me, she did come to the realisation that she could be happy with herself, no matter what she looked like. I do believe that this very drastic transformation that you can see above is physical manifestation of the psychological shift that Yalda had during our training together. Yalda really is a true inspiration.
I have absolutely no doubt that Yalda will continue these healthy lifestyle habits well into the future. She's now closer than ever to what she feels is her perfect figure - and she accomplished this with a healthy, consistent approach to her new lifestyle. Of course, she did enjoy a few drinks and a bit of take-away...but this was balanced out with exercise and nutritious foods.
