Initially Hayley contacted me through Amino Z, seeking our online personal training services.  She had some gym experience, but was unable to achieve her dream goals by losing a little bit of weight, toning up and increasing her strength.  So she jumped on board and we undertook a very intensive 12 week program where I completely revamped her training routine to produce big results based on her body, lifestyle, goals and training experience.

There were a few issues to consider prior to the commencement of Hayley's training and nutritional programs.  Firstly. her work required her to be on call 24/7, so there were some nights where she would barely sleep at all.  This could significantly hamper Hayley's recovery in between workouts, so we needed a program that was flexible yet extremely effective at the same time.  Another consideration was Hayley's love for several exercise classes held at her local gym.  If undertaken at a high level of intensity, I felt that Hayley could really benefit from these classes by lifting her level of fitness and inducing a high calorie deficit to result in the desired weight loss.  However I did feel that it was very important that, at her high level of fitness, some high intensity interval training (HIIT) would be implemented in order to really accelerate her fat loss and toning results.

What amazed me was Hayley's true dedication to the program.  Right from day one she trained at a consistently high level and took every workout very seriously.  This is precisely why she achieved such an amazing contrast between her before and after photo's!  Mind you, she actually went away on a holiday half way through the twelve week challenge for a total of three weeks!

A big congratulations on your outstanding transformation Hayley!  Working such long (and stressful) hours, in addition to going away on a three week holiday, didn't stop you from achieving some truly jaw-dropping results.  You are an inspiration to women all over Australia and the world!

"I first read about internet personal trainers in a fitness magazine at my local gym and the idea interested me immensely. When I decided to sign up with Jay, one of the first things that impressed me was his immediate response to my enquiries and his very professional yet personalised approach.

Prior to my 12 week Challenge with Jay, I was a regular gym goer however I lacked the direction and intensity needed to really make a change in my body physique. In the past, I had been pretty lazy about exercising and it was only after I moved away from home and became responsible for everything that ended up on my plate and prioritising my time around work, study and lifestyle, that I realised I wasn’t as fit and happy as I had let myself to believe. I think it is unfortunately that as adults, we have so much responsibility for taking care of ourselves!

So last year, I joined the local gym. Upon joining my key goals were to lose weight, tone up, increase strength and increase fitness. Over the course of the year, I managed to shed some kilos and marginally increase my fitness, but I felt I had a way to go to reach my potential. I was exercising about 5 times per week however they were not effective training sessions and my overall nutrition let me down. I once read about people that join gyms and plug along for a year, barely raising their heart rate and then a year down the track wondering why they hadn’t made any real progress. I was becoming one of those people.

I decided to join with Jay for 2 main reasons. Firstly, I needed to make big changes to my training and nutrition and was unsure how to do this. I felt that Jay had sufficient skills and knowledge to be able to help me. And secondly, I needed someone to be accountable to, as I was afraid to slip back into old habits.

My 12 week program with Jay was jam packed full of intense training session and sensible nutrition. I had never done HIIT cardio work before and I remember during my very first session feeling like I was going to throw up and asking myself WHY I was doing this! I felt like someone on The Biggest Loser who had never exercised before and that really hit a cord with me. But I wasn’t afraid to keep trying. I grunted and swore my way through some intense sessions wondering what on earth the people around me were thinking!

I found it very difficult at times. I knew what I needed to do, but actually doing it was another story. Particularly hard times were Christmas, New Year and a one month holiday period away from home and my normal gym. Jay kept reminding me to stick to the nutrition and always go all out on my training. He pushed me when I felt like giving up. He encouraged me and complimented me when I had a good training session or good weekly weigh-in results.

It was about half way into the challenge when people around me started to notice the difference. My whole body shape was changing! And of course positive feedback from others only made me want to keep trying harder and harder. I definitely had my slip-ups along the way, resorting back to some naughty high-density calorie snacking habits out of boredom, stress and loneliness, but Jay taught me that it OK not to always be perfect and that its not what you do 20% of the time, it’s the 80% that makes the difference.

At the end of my challenge, I compared my before and after photos and was amazed at the difference in such a short period of time. Now I can run and I don’t feel my lungs burning. Now I’m so fit, my heart rate recovers almost instantly. I feel the endorphins after working out and tell everyone I’m a gym junkie! However, I still feel as though I have a little way to go but I’m hugely motivated to achieve these goals by continued health and fitness training and closely monitored sensible diet.
