Diana, at 32 years of age was a regular exerciser but just couldn't manage to achieve her weight loss goal of 65kg. Suffering from various injuries and unsure about how to eat correctly, Diana was greatly frustrated. She decided to undertake our online personal training services and accomplished an amazing transformation - far more than what she originally set out to achieve!
Diana's Testimonial about our Online Personal Training Services:
Before I started the 12-week challenge, I was in a state of frustration. I enjoyed group fitness classes at the gym but I had shin splints for months on end that never seemed to go away, an injured right shoulder for the last 10 months that was too painful to sleep on, let alone do any push-ups, and I found it difficult to lose the extra weight I had put on over the last two years. I weighed the most I had in my life and I didn’t feel great about it.
My ‘solution’ was to do lots of aerobic classes (which aggravated the shin splints), while not really worrying about what I was eating. I managed to lose only 4kg myself (..in over a year!!).
It was clear that what I was doing wasn’t working – but I didn’t know what I could do to change it!
I initially came across the Amino Z website while looking for information on how I could improve my nutrition. I was confused with so much contradictory information out there on the Internet. I read about what Jay achieved and his approach and attitude to nutrition and fitness. It made sense!
I never dieted and didn’t want a ‘diet’. I didn’t want a quick win approach. Nor did I want something that would only last 12 weeks and leave me in a position where I didn’t learn anything. The online personal training type really appealed to me. I had the motivation to exercise – but just didn’t know what I was doing, or how to treat my body in terms of nutrition or injury prevention. I hated the treadmill, I was intimidated to use the weights area at the gym, I didn’t care what I ate, and I avoided vegetables. How that was all to change!!
Before we started, Jay (my trainer from Amino Z) made the effort to really understand where I was currently at, and what my goals were. He especially catered for my existing injuries. By understanding food that I loved and food that I did not, he transformed my idea of nutrition. The impact of this was huge!! I wasn’t on a diet and I didn’t feel like I was on a diet, I ate what I loved, and I was eating often! For me the hardest part was drinking 2 litres of water per day! This goes to show that Jay pays specific attention to your needs, what will work with each specific individual, and his programmes are tailored in such a way that you won’t find difficult to implement. To me – this is gold and a sure recipe for helping clients succeed!
That was only one half of the story! Jay introduced me to his weights programme creations!
Originally confining myself to cardio group class areas, and avoiding the weights areas, I initially found the idea of using the weights area intimidating. Once I finished the first session, I just didn’t understand how I could have not started years ago! His programmes were challenging, fun, and built my confidence. I absolutely loved the weights training!
This first bonus for me was the complete elimination of shin splints AND complete recovery of my right shoulder! This is thanks to his inclusion of particular exercises to strengthen those areas.
The second was my re-education on nutrition and feeling what a difference it makes to feed your body the right foods and the right time.
Over the last 12 weeks, my fitness levels during group classes improved considerably, I feel and am so much healthier and fitter, and I am more aware of the benefits of what and when to eat. I absolutely love the mental challenges my cardio sessions on the treadmill give me!
Most importantly, Jay has transformed my way of thinking about how I respect my body in terms of exercise and nutrition! When you have this respect, it really doesn’t take much motivation at all to fuel your body with what it really needs rather than what you ‘think’ it needs.
Jay has an incredible passion and energy for helping others achieve their goals and teaching you that you can actually do more than you think you can! Your boundaries that you have preset for yourself will be smashed! He was extremely thorough in paying attention to every detail of the results of my exercise sessions - giving me detailed feedback on every single thing I did, including my nutrition. He misses absolutely nothing!
Jay is a brilliant motivator and mentor and I definitely could not have eliminated my injuries and made such progress in fitness without his guidance!
Ask yourself what your goals are, and how much it means to you if you could achieve them. Especially if you think they are impossible. You will find that you will get out of this much more than you initially thought! Jay is DEFINITELY the coach to help you achieve whatever you decide you are ready to achieve!
From the Trainer (Jay Bonaretti):
Diana originally contacted us at Amino Z to accomplish a long-standing weight loss goal of 65kg and to tone her arms, abs and buttocks regions. She was also quite confused as to how food and exercise affected her body shape.
Before we began training, Diana expressed to me that she definitely did not want to go on a 12 week "diet", to quickly lose the weight, and then subsequently gain the weight back. Instead, she wanted to develop a new healthy lifestyle that she could sustain indefinitely. Fortunately, that fit in with our training philosophies, so I immediately got to work on developing a challenging and interesting programme, that would be sustainable in the long-term.
I must say, Diana is one really enthusiastic person! She was so excited about the whole concept of our online personal training and she really got stuck right into it. She was always on-time with her results and always provided extra information for me to help her even more. It comes as no surprise to me that she accomplished such amazing results with her level of passion, dedication and consistency! Right from the very first week (where she lost 2.7kg!), she obtained some amazing results.
It wasn't all a smooth journey. Diana did get sick a little early on which did inhibit her from fully participating in the prescribed exercise protocol. She also had shin splints and a very weak shoulder that we had to accommodate for early on in the piece. I did make some very specific accommodations for these injuries in her training. But even with these obstacles, Diana did stay focused on her end goals. With enough consistency in her training, she did manage to overcome the shin splints entirely and now has no shoulder complaints! In fact, at the end of the initial twelve weeks of training, Diana sent this message to me:
"At the start of this programme I had a list of goals but I would say that I have learnt so much more! The most obvious examples that were NOT on my original goals list that to me are a MASSIVE bonus are:
- clearer skin with better eating and drinking more water
- getting over being intimidated to even go near the weights machines where all the guys are. Now I don't care!
- Learning how to use the weights machines
- Being able to run on the treadmill for 10 mins
- Can see that my strength has improved in Body Pump
- No shin splints!
- Right shoulder is stronger and I don't feel any pain or any sign of when I twisted it
- In Body Attack I can actually do the prone holds and side holds for as long as we have to hold them (previously I couldn't!)
- I don't need to think about what I need to eat and when (which is why I used to eat so much chocolate as well - easier). I love that I already know what I am going to eat.
- Learning how to set goals and when I should be increasing weights or setting new goals."
Although I may have provided her with the assistance and tools necessary to not only accomplish her original goals, but all these other bonuses, she was the one who put the effort in to make these drastic changes in her life. Considering where she came from (just the fact that she avoided veggies like the plague!)...it's mind-boggling to consider that she did all of this in just twelve weeks.
Congratulations Diana! A job really well done and I am really proud of you for what you have accomplished. I am also really excited to continue training you online as you set out to accomplish even more goals!
