SUMMARY
Balance Ultra Ripped Protein claims to be a one-stop-shop for all the best supplements you'll need; see how it rates against other products on the market.
OUR REVIEW
This smaller brand, Balance, came out with Ultra Ripped Protein recently. While it has not hit larger markets in the US as yet, the reviews are looking quite good. The mixture itself is unique in itself, as well, and things will go very well once people start to really notice it.
Mixability
Ultra Ripped protein gets a good rating here because there wasn't too much fuss shaking it up with the bottle shaker. It wasn't the best mix I've seen, but no chunks after a good shake, so I didn't mind it.
Taste
The chocolate flavoured one had a pretty good taste when taken with milk, not as good with water. The milk seems to smooth it over a lot better, good texture, and no after-taste.
Effectiveness
When it counts, this product does its job. I start to take this shake about half-way through the workout, and sip it till the end. The reason for this is that I decided not to stack it with other supplements. Without taking anything to boost my energy, etc, before training, I like knowing exactly when and how it feels once this supplement kicks in. I can say with certainty that, especially the first couple of times I took it, I experienced a noticeable difference in energy towards the end of my workout. I get a little extra boost to finish up my squats, and it takes the edge off post-workout exhaustion.
It is difficult to determine if any extra fat has been shed since I don't have much to lose. I am definitely recovering well and feeling good during workouts, which is a big concern for me!
Nutritional
Once you check out the nutrition and ingredient label, it all makes sense. Balance has found a way to put as many boosters as possible into one formula. The basis of the supplement is protein. It is made up of pure, good quality whey protein isolate. This is a good, usable form of protein, giving them top points for this. They also decided to add a “fat shedding” aspect and “energy boosting” factor. The formula has green tea extract and a couple of other herbs known to help with the metabolisation of fat.
They also added caffeine, which is the energy booster. Usually, caffeine is taken before a training session, while fat burners are taken throughout the day and protein is taken immediately after training. It would seem odd that they would be all taken at the same time with the same supplement. For myself and many others, its not really a serious matter to worry about, since it does the trick anyways.
I can't help but notice that there is just 1g of carb per serving, which may be good for many looking to cut carbs out. For myself, I mix this with skim milk to get a little more carb out of my recovery drink. I find it helps for myself to get good sugars in once my muscles are completely fatigued.
Value for money
Considering the good quality (and expensive) protein in Ultra Ripped, and the fat burning ingredients, it is priced well. Normally the product goes for a little more than I would think it is worth, but with all the discounts in place, it makes the product well worth the money.
A 3KG pail can be used over the course of several months for many people, especially if you're taking one serving per day.
Overall
This product gets a solid 5 rating. A fantastic effort by a small supplement company to put forward a good quality, multidimensional protein supplement. Good quality, great for recovery, and an effective supplement, which is sometimes difficult to find. Definitely a worthwhile supplement, and it comes in a smaller size, perfect for testing it out!
